Red Dress Day

Red Dress Day 2026 in Canada will be observed on May 5th. This day is dedicated to awareness and remembrance of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people. It is inspired by the REDress Project by Métis artist Jaime Black, which aims to raise awareness about the ongoing issues of gender-based violence against Indigenous communities. On this day, many communities across Canada commemorate by displaying red dresses in public spaces, organizing vigils, and participating in various activities to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives.
